Best Agents for Every Valorant Map (Season V26 Act 3)
Table of Contents
1. Current Competitive Map Pool
As of June 2026 (Season V26, Act 3, Patch 12.08), the ranked pool consists of seven maps: Haven, Ascent, Split, Pearl, Breeze, Lotus, and Fracture. The most recent rotation brought Ascent back in and rotated Bind out. Maps such as Bind, Sunset, Icebox, Corrode, and Abyss are currently disabled in ranked but playable in Unrated and other modes.
2. Why Composition Beats Individual Picks
No single agent wins a map. What wins maps is covering four jobs across your five players:
- Controller — Block sightlines with smokes. Most critical on open maps (Ascent, Pearl, Breeze).
- Initiator — Clear angles and gather info. Essential on layered maps (Split, Lotus, Fracture).
- Sentinel — Lock flanks, anchor sites. Best on multi-entry maps (Haven, Fracture, Breeze).
- Duelist — Take space, entry frag. 1 on cramped maps, up to 2 on open maps.
The best agent on any map is the one filling the job your team is missing. Recommendations below are starting points — build and validate a full team around them.
3. Haven — Triple-Site Stretch
Map Profile
The only triple-site map (A, B, C), stretching defenses across three sites. Three sites reward information and retake power. Trap and lockdown sentinels are premium for holding a site solo.
Recommended Composition
| Role | Top Pick | Alternative | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Controller | Clove | Omen | Flexible smokes that can split between two sites; Clove's post-death utility provides value on retakes |
| Initiator | Sova | Fade | Recon darts cover A Long and C Long; Owl Drone scouts wide before committing to any site |
| Sentinel | Killjoy | Cypher | Turret and nano setups on C allow solo anchoring while the team plays around mid and A |
| Duelist | Jett | Raze | Mobility and Operator value on A Long and C Long; Tailwind for aggressive peeks |
4. Ascent — Mid Control Classic
Map Profile
Open mid with a contestable orb and two compact sites. Ascent lives and dies on mid control and the open site chokes. Two destructible doors on A Site widen or funnel approaches.
Recommended Composition
| Role | Top Pick | Alternative | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Controller | Omen | Brimstone | Shrouded Step accesses elevated positions; Dark Cover blocks mid sightlines from anywhere |
| Initiator | Sova | KAY/O | Clean geometry produces the most effective Recon Bolt lineups in the game |
| Sentinel | Killjoy | Sage | Turret + nano utility on both sites and mid; statistically S-tier on Ascent |
| Duelist | Jett | Raze | Explosive entries on both sites; Operator holds on A and B with Tailwind for safety |
5. Split — Vertical Mid-Control
Map Profile
Two tight sites gated by heavy verticality and rope ascenders. A mid-control map where controlling the central tower dictates round flow. Close-quarters combat dominates A and B sites.
Recommended Composition
| Role | Top Pick | Alternative | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Controller | Omen | Astra | One-way smokes on narrow chokes; Shrouded Step exploits vertical angles |

| Duelist | Raze | Jett | Boom Bot and Paint Shells clear tight chokes; Blast Pack for vertical aggression |
6. Pearl — Long Sightlines
Map Profile
A two-site map with long sightlines and a fiercely contested mid, with no teleporters. Controllers matter most here — smokes carve out takes on the exposed approaches.
