PATCH 1.05 — NEW SECRETS & BALANCE CHANGES

Update 1.05 & Secret Boss Guide

Game Science continues to expand the world of Black Myth: Wukong with Update 1.05. This patch introduces two new hidden boss encounters, significant combat balance adjustments, and quality-of-life improvements. Whether you're hunting for secret endings or optimizing your build after the latest changes, this guide covers everything you need to know.

Patch 1.05 Highlights

Major Changes

  • New Hidden Boss — Yaoguai Chief: Shadow Weaver — Found in Chapter 3's Valley of Echoes. Requires completing a side quest chain from the Elder Jinchi statue.
  • New Hidden Boss — Erlang Shen Rematch (Divine Trial) — Unlocked after collecting all six relics and visiting the Great Pagoda. Considerably harder than the base game encounter.
  • Spirit Skill adjustments — Tiger Vanguard and Red Tides damage increased by 12%; Wandering Wight startup frames reduced.
  • New Stance: Heaven's Equal — Unlocked after defeating Erlang Shen's Divine Trial. Combines Smash and Thrust stance movements with unique heavy attack chains.
  • Photo Mode — Now accessible from the pause menu with filters, poses, and free camera.

Secret Boss: Shadow Weaver

Shadow Weaver is a spider-themed Yaoguai Chief hidden deep within Chapter 3's Valley of Echoes. She specializes in creating shadow clones and silk traps that restrict your movement.

PhaseHealth %Key MechanicsStrategy
Phase 1100%–60%Shadow Clones (3), Silk BindUse Cloud Step to break targeting; focus clones with Pillar Stance AoE
Phase 260%–25%Shadow Clones (6), Webbed ArenaEquip Fireproof Mantle; Use Immobilize on the real boss (glowing eyes)
Phase 325%–0%Shadow Storm, Silk CocoonSave Pluck of Many for burst damage; dodge into the storm, not away
Tip: The real Shadow Weaver always has glowing red eyes, while clones are dull. Use the Photo Mode's zoom feature pre-fight to practice identifying her in chaos.

Secret Boss: Erlang Shen (Divine Trial)

This rematch against Erlang Shen is unlocked after collecting all six relics and is significantly more challenging than the first encounter. The Divine Trial version has new attack patterns, a second axe phase, and regenerating shield phases.

Requirement: You must have completed the true ending at least once and collected all six relics (Crazed Flame, Freed Mind, Sturdy Shell, Keen Insight, Envious Touch, Grieved Heart) from NG+.

Heaven's Equal Stance

The new stance combines Smash and Thrust fundamentals with unique chain finishers. Light attacks build Resolve faster than other stances, and the charged heavy — "Heaven's Descent" — delivers a plunging strike with invincibility frames.

Balance Changes Summary

ChangeImpact
Tiger Vanguard spirit damage +12%Now competitive with Red Tides for boss damage
Red Tides spirit damage +12%Still top-tier for multi-hit scenarios
Wandering Wight startup reducedEasier to land in combos; less risky to use
Immobilize duration vs bosses -1sLess free damage windows; learn boss patterns
Cloud Step cooldown +5sCan't spam safety as frequently in long fights
Overall Meta Shift: Patch 1.05 rewards aggression. With Immobilize nerfed and Cloud Step on a longer cooldown, players relying on hit-and-run tactics will struggle. Switch to sustained pressure builds using Tiger Vanguard or Red Tides spirits.

Secret Ending Updated

After defeating Erlang Shen (Divine Trial), a new cutscene expands on Wukong's fate and hints at future DLC content. Players who achieve this ending will also unlock the "Heaven's Equal" title for their profile and a unique armor transmog.
