Horadric Codex — Season of Witchcraft
Season 7 & Vessel of Hatred: Best Builds
Diablo IV has evolved dramatically since its troubled launch. Season 7 and the Vessel of Hatred expansion introduced legitimate build diversity across all six classes, with the new Spirit Born class carving a distinct identity. This guide covers the four strongest builds calibrated for Torment IV+ endgame, The Pit Tier 100 clears, and efficient Undercity farming.
I. Build Tier List (Torment IV+)
| Tier | Build | Class | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Whirlwind Dust Devil | Barbarian | Speed farming, overworld clearing, mass AoE |
| S | Spirit Born Centipede | Spirit Born | Bossing, Torment IV survivability |
| A | Ball Lightning Sorcerer | Sorcerer | The Pit pushing, resource management |
| A | Death Trap Rogue | Rogue | The Pit 100+ clears, single-target burst |
II. Whirlwind Dust Devil Barbarian (S-Tier)
The Whirlwind Barbarian remains the undisputed king of speed farming. Stacking Dust Devils through continuous Whirlwind ticks creates a cyclone of destruction that clears entire screens. The key interactions: Aspect of Dire Whirlwind (damage multiplier per second channeled), Aspect of Unrelenting Fury (Fury regeneration during Whirlwind), and Ring of Starless Skies (40% damage reduction + resource cost reduction).
Rotation: Challenging Shout → Rallying Cry → Iron Skin → Wrath of the Berserker → Whirlwind. Maintain Whirlwind until everything dies — the continuous channel scales damage multiplicatively. Against bosses, switch to Hammer of the Ancients variant for 3x single-target DPS.
Paragon Priority: Carnage glyph, Imbiber glyph, Weapons Master board. Stats: Strength > Vulnerable Damage > Crit Chance > Crit Damage.
III. Spirit Born Centipede (S-Tier)
The Vessel of Hatred's new Spirit Born class excels with the Centipede/Razorplate build. Using Reap with the Harmony of Ebewaka unique helmet lets you benefit from all Spirit Hall boons simultaneously — armor, resistance, and damage multipliers stack additively. The Centipede spirit hall provides constant poison damage over time with life steal, making this the tankiest build in Torment IV.
Key Unique: Harmony of Ebewaka (helmet) — activates all Spirit Hall bonuses. Rotation: Reap → Scourge → Devourer → basic attack weaving. Maintain Centipede spirit for passive life steal; switch to Jaguar for burst phases.
IV. Ball Lightning Sorcerer (A-Tier)
Ball Lightning bounces through enemies dealing continuous damage. The build revolves around generating Crackling Energy and converting it to Ball Lightning casts. With Overflowing Energy and Static Surge passives, each Ball Lightning hit generates resource — enabling infinite casts during combat. Ideal for The Pit pushing due to sustained damage output.
Rotation: Frost Nova → Ball Lightning spam → Teleport to reposition → Ice Armor for defense. Against bosses, use Unstable Currents ultimate for a 50% damage window.
V. Death Trap Rogue (A-Tier)
The Death Trap Rogue is the premier Pit 100+ pusher. Stacking Movement Speed and Cooldown Reduction keeps Death Trap's ultimate active 100% of the time. The Furnace unique (increases damage by 40% against bosses) makes this the best single-target build. Traps pull enemies into a kill zone, and preparation resets cooldowns on kill.
VI. Gold & Obducite Farming: The Undercity
The Undercity with a Tribute of Harmony guarantees a 2-3GA (Greater Affix) item every run. These sell for millions of gold or provide masterwork materials. Run Undercity in a party of 4 with matching tributes for quadruple returns — the best gold-per-hour in the game.
